beauty products I’ve used + what I do or do not like about them

One thing you might not guess about me is that I love change. (just typically in small amounts) Whether it’s tweaking my room, switching my daily routine around, coming up with a new lunch idea, etc. I get easily restless when everything is the same all. the. time. So I make sure I am constantly adding variety to my life, even in the smallest of ways!

One of my favorite ways to add change into the mundane of everyday is trying different beauty products- I LOVE trying new things. I am always up for a new shampoo or scent or hairspray. (Just ask my family or close friends! haha) That being said, I have tried out many different things. I have listed them below so y’all can have a reference page of the things I liked and the things I didn’t. 😉

SHAMPOO + CONDITIONER

I used Aussie for a looong time. It’s very good quality for the price, which is my main reason for choosing it. That and the smell.🤷🏼‍♀️ I switched, solely because I was bored. haha

When I moved from Aussie, I went to L’oreal (volumizing). It’s great! The smell was even better than Aussie- very strong and lasting. But then I got bored again. haha Okay, that wasn’t the whole reason, but it was most of it! I didn’t feel comfortable with the chemicals/ingredients used in L’oreal- I felt like my hair was being damaged in a way because of the lack of natural ingredients. So, I went on the lookout for something different.

Love, Beauty, and Planet caught my eye very quickly- the packing is beautiful, the scents are varying and amazing, all-natural ingredients, etc. The only thing that had me hesitant was the price. So, I waited for a sale to see if it was worth it. Finally, a sale came and I bought some. I love rose-scented things, so I chose to try that one out first. It smells amazing. Definitely my favorite thing about it! Although, the product itself wasn’t remarkable. It was average—not bad at all, just average.🤷🏼‍♀️ Which was disappointing! Though, the more I used it, the more I appreciated the fact that it was all-natural and sulfate free! I have noticed a positive difference in my hair since. I’ll continue to use it for that and the amazing smell; together, it makes the price worth it!

(somewhere along the lines, I found a clearanced Stress Relief conditioner from Bath and Body Works that smells heavenly, but is also quite average, if not below average)

In the midst of my disappointment, I decided to try Renpure. It’s another all-natural brand, but cheaper than LB+P. It smells wonderful and is also a great product. I am very happy with it!

SOAPS, LOTIONS + PERFUME

Bath and Body Works is the only place I buy soap, lotions, and perfumes from. It’s what I’ve always used and has plenty of variety. Plus, I don’t think anything else compares quality-wise. All other soaps and lotions I have tried seem watered down or something.🤷🏼‍♀️ Though it is a bit spendy, it’s not that big of a deal- I just wait for the sales that happen all the time anyway. My favorites are: Endless Weekend, Forever Red, Rose, Stress Relief, Sleep, Focus, Hello Beautiful, Dance in the Rain, Focus, Gingham, and Into the Night.

FACE CARE

This is hardest thing to change. Ugh. I am in the middle of trying to find a different routine, as the price of my current one has changed. (Brandless raised all their prices, and I’m not too happy about it.) Here is a past post about it: My Daily Skin Care Routine + Tips And let me know if y’all have any suggestions! I do suggest not using this one– it dried my face out horribly, probably due to the harsh chemicals.

HAIRSPRAY

I have used Tresemme in the past, but have moved on to Herbal Essences Body Envy Volumizing Hairspray. I really like it! Although, I may switch for variety sake. haha I have tried this one that I didn’t like. It works really well while you are doing your hair, but it’s difficult to brush out. And I don’t like that in a hairspray, because it’s damaging to your hair. So. We’ll see what I end up going with! haha

What are y’all’s favorites?

  1. Having sensitive skin limits lots of options 😂
    Few Favorites:
Shampoo +Conditoner: Head and Shoulders (the original fresh scent 😂 it really does smell amazing)
Hairspray: Treseme, Freeze IT, and Suave pump hairspray for everyday use.
Lotions: (Also a B+BW’s fan) Pretty as a Peach, Forever Red, Stress Relief, and sometimes Hello Beautiful.
Soaps: (B+BW’s as well) Cactus Blossom is a favorite 😍 along with Stress Relief, and Pretty as a Peach.
Face: I use Cetaphil Daily Facil Cleanser. It isn’t too harsh but it also gets the job done (I also use their Moisturizing Lotion to keep my face from drying out it isn’t a heavy lotion and isn’t supposed to clog your pores 🤷🏼‍♀️ according to my dermatologist😂).

  2. I really like Love, Beauty and Planet’s stuff. For being all-natural I think it’s pretty cheap, and their stuff always smells amazing! I like their turmeric scent. It sounds like it wouldn’t smell good but it actually smells really nice.
I love Bath and Body Works!! I like their Stress Relief and Rose scents, as well as Energy and Lavender and Honey. 🙂 The Lavender one has been my top favorite for yeaaars.
Great post! ❤ I always like reading about new beauty products to try out!

  3. The more I use it, the more I love it too! I’ve found that the fact that it’s all-natural and sulfate free makes it worth spending a little more! And, yes- it is quite cheap compared to other all-natural brands! I think every single one of their scents are amazing.😍

Same with Bath and Body Works! It’s really hard for me to find a scent that I don’t like, and the Aromatherapy stuff is all fantastic!

Thanks! I do too, which is what inspired this post.😉 I enjoyed your comment!✨
