Honduras 2019 || part 2

Day 2, May 24th

We woke up to the sound of roosters and Charity “getting something from our room”. haha Miss Charity was adorable- she reminded me so much of Kate! We got along great.😉 Then, we ate breakfast, got a tour of their house, and headed to the campground.

We got the opportunity to ride in the back of their truck for the first of many times during our stay. SO much fun! haha The wind felt great, and you could see the scenery so much better. It was such a cool experience. Definitely one of my favorite Honduran things!

The country of Honduras is gorgeous and the culture oh-so-different from America. It was quite a drastic change! The language barrier was also something we had to deal with. Although, it ended up not mattering much; we learned to connect with people despite not even speaking the same language. I loved it!

For the Friday night service, a group of us girls wore floral. So, we all matched while still being unique in our own styles. I enjoyed spending time with these girls! Frances and Cristel were so sweet and welcoming. I am looking forward to going back and seeing them once again!❤️

Day 3, May 25th

We had such a fun time at their youth camp! Despite all the services being completely in Spanish, they were amazing. Saturday night’s service will stick with me forever- so, so, so good. It was a blowout with no preaching and young people drunk in the Holy Ghost long after the service “end”. God moved so mightily and unconventionally and deeply. Which, as all Apostolics know, is the perfect combination.

We ate baleadas for the first time during our stay, and I fell in love with them! I am craving them very regularly now that I’m back in the states. haha I have been looking everywhere for a good recipe. (Sarah, let me know if you have one!)

We watched the boys play soccer, took a nap, passed around a toot machine for pranks, and played a game of “throw the bottle at each other” involving a mass of young people. That was fun. Almost as fun as my nap! hahaha Spending time with the Honduran young people was a blast.

I did so. many. girl’s. hair.😵 haha I am certainly not complaining! I just found it humorous how they were all lining up for me to do their hair. I did 3-5 girl’s hair each service, not including my own. Once, I had just woken up from a nap and a girl came to my bedside with a brush and hairpins.😆 My contacts were super blurry still, so I couldn’t even see. It was hilarious.

to be continued…

  1. Haha – in Nica they’re not as big on the hair (they all do mine!) but in Colombia they all asked me to French braid!
