My Life as Rapunzel

Hello, everyone! I’ve been requested to write a post on my hair, so here it is! I hope y’all enjoy.😉

A lot of people that know me aren’t surprised by the length of my hair. But, those that haven’t seen it down usually are. It comes down to the middle of my calf, so it is really long. And also stick-straight, as you can probably tell. haha

I get so many questions every time I wear my hair down. People want to know my daily routine, what products I use, how I typically wear it, etc. So, I’ve come to answer all those questions and more!

Question: How do you typically wear your hair?

Answer: 95% of the time, I have my hair in a topknot. It’s easy, quick, requires no hairspray, doesn’t harm my hair, and goes with almost every outfit ever.🤷🏼‍♀️ The day the topknot goes out of style will be a sad day for me. haha

Question: What texture is your hair?

Answer: It’s very soft and straight, with almost no natural volume. Though each individual hair is very fine and thin, my ponytail is fairly thick–about a quarter in circumference.

Question: Does your hair tangle easily?

Answer: I’ve never really had anyone else’s hair, so I can’t exactly compare mine very well. But, I wouldn’t say mine gets tangly easily, unless I’m wearing it down for a long period of time.🤷🏼‍♀️

Question: What products do you use?

Answer: I have used a mix of brands and types of hair products, so this answer might be a bit long.😂 Because my hair lacks volume, I have tried a variety of brands that offer volumizing shampoo and conditioner. The two main ones have been Aussie and L’oreal. I used Aussie in some form or fashion since I was 10 and until I was about 13 or 14, so it had been my go-to hair brand for a long time. But, I decided to try L’oreal’s volumizing shampoo and conditioner and it worked so much better, so I stuck with that up until recently. Well, I still use it whenever I want to have extra volume in my hair for a certain style or maybe for a conference, but I have found a new product to use regularly.- It’s the Green Tea & Aloe Moisturizing shampoo and conditioner from Brandless. I really love it!

Question: What do you do with your hair while sleeping?

Answer: Hmm, it really depends. Sometimes, I wear it in a topknot, but usually I wear it down in a knot.🤷🏼‍♀️

Question: How long have you been growing it out?

Answer: Um, all my life.🤷🏼‍♀️ haha I’ve actually never cut it.😉

Question: What do you do about split ends?

Answer: They actually aren’t an issue as long as I’m treating my hair good and keeping it moisturized. The myth that your hair grows from the tips is false; it actually grows from the roots, so split ends don’t really effect your hair growth.

Question: Are you Amish?

Answer: Haha- no.😂 (And, yes, I get asked that all the time.🙄)

Question: Do you get headaches?

Answer: Also no.😂🤷🏼‍♀️

I hope this answered any questions any of y’all might have! If not, just comment them and I’ll get back to you asap! I hope you all have great day!😁

  1. As someone that has done your hair multiple times (as well as many, many other people’s hair), I feel educated enough to insert that your hair does not tangle easily. It’s pretty easy to do without having to worry about constantly smoothing or untangling. I also can vouch for the fact that your hair is most frequently seen in a topknot. I’m basically a consultant for your hair habits, Maddi. 😂

  2. Wow. I had no idea your hair is so long! (Did I miss that somewhere?😁) It’s beautiful! Wow, I totally could not let mine get that long, as much as I’d love to. (Mine’s really thick, so that would probably get quite a hassle😆) Ha! That’s funny that you get asked if you’re amish! Interesting(:
    Have a wonderful day!

  3. Haha I don’t think I’ve discussed it before.😉 Thank you!😊 Oh, I know many girls with hair as long as mine that have SUPER thick hair- so thick that they use headbands as ponytails! Yes, it is quite humorous! I don’t think I look Amish at all!😂😂

  4. WHAT HO, THAT IS JUST WOW. Haha, I can’t imagine my hair being that long! I get headaches from ponytails and you know how short mine is, heh heh. That’s just incredible, Maddi!

  5. Hee hee! Oh, i was going to ask you – do you ever curl it? My aunt had super long hair when she was younger, and she’d curl it with foam rollers. I tried that out myself when my hair was tailbone-length, and i have a tutorial in the depths of my blog if you want me to pull that out!

  6. Actually, I haven’t curled it in AGES because the curls fall out of my hair super quick. I’m also such a low-maintenance person that curling it all and having to deal with my hair down is horribly annoying to me.😂🤷🏼‍♀️ Plus, I don’t use any type of curling iron or straightener on my hair. I’ll most likely try again someday though! Ooh, yes, I’d love to see it!

  7. Thank you for taking the time to write this! From your profile pic, I would have never guessed your hair was this long!! Ever sense I was little, I wanted to be Rapunzel with the long glorious hair streaming behind me, lol. When I got older, I wanted somthing more realistic….like down to my waist. Unfortantly I discovered that everyone has a length where their hair stops growing (or never stops) sadly, mine was not even middle-back. While I am grateful to God for my hair, and love the color, I really admire yours!! 👌 I also have a problem with my hair continually falling out. One time, it got so bad I thought I was going to se it all. Eventually my hair stopped falling out so much; after half of it was gone. Now that my hair has been coming back in (another story 🙄) it’s started to want to fall out again. 😭😭😭😡😡😡 Do you have any idea what I could use? I’m already on different vitamins and such…. love your humor of the pencil-straigh-hair and noooo volume! The struggle is real girl!!

  8. Yeah, I’ve learned to hide it well! Haha Thanks!😊 I have found that mine goes through cycles of falling out, as well. I just take extra good care of it and use healthy hair products, light hairspray, and no heat. Keeping it up helps, as well. If you want to take a more serious approach, there are tons of “regrowth” hair products out there! I know losing hair is never fun!😝

  9. Ugh, never fun expeshually when “big hair” is THE style! Thankfully it’s gone down and more people are just cutting it short, lol….
It’s really neat gow you’ve grown it all your life; I always wanted to do that but struggle with extream frizzy hair, major sl,it and and such. I really do treat my hair nice; I do t know what’s wring with it!! I don’t have time for heat… besides, it never stays! Show up to church and that hair’s already flat! Thank you for the insight. 😜😁
